Roy Anderson

The club wish to acknowledge the passing of Roy Anderson on the 22nd May.

Roy became a life member of the club in 1984. He was an active rider and held various club admin positions, his main contribution to club activities though was his role as race manager for approximately 40 years

Our sympathy goes out to his family.

Due to the current restrictions on Funeral Services, the family are holding a Private Service for Roy. An invitation is extended to friends to view the service online on the Dempsey & Forrest Website,  More info at the following link: http://videosystems.co.nz/dfnz/

Saturday Ride

Group ride this Saturday 23rd. May @ 9am (its getting cold at 8am now) - Start from the Yellow House. Possible Red Shed destination but the group can decide on the day depending on wind direction and who tunrs up.

If you've been wondering - We don't think we can get away with competitive riding until COVID level 1 - We do have some dates set for July and will let you know about these soon

Group Rides

We're back! Level 2 is here and we can all take the opportunity to get out and ride again.

There are a few people wanting to do a group ride this Saturday 16th.  at 8am. Meet at the Yellow House. The ride will head north up the river road for about 40Ks  but if there are riders wanting it shorter you can turn back early. All welcome to ride

Sunday Group rides will resume this weekend too. As usual meet at the Yellow House at 9am for a fast group and 9.15am for a slower group

REMEMBER we're still at COVID-19 level 2 Lockdown so watch your group sizes at all times - If too many show up to ride then break the group up into 2 or more smaller groups. You should be looking at group sizes of no more than 10. Obviously any other anti-COVID precautions apply too

Club Racing - Cycling NZ still aren't clear about what we can and can't do at level 2 but we will resume races as soon as we get some clarification.

TT CANCELLED !!

We tried but the COVID-19 alert levels overtook us. Alert level 3 today and 4 in a couple of days which make running a TT impossible.

From this point on we have to CANCEL all club events until further notice.

Keep riding tho - All the info out there its still ok to get out on the bike and ride - but group rides are definately out.

Club Kit - Order Now !!

We are opening up orders for club kit now. Just use the following link to place an order and pay via credit card.

https://shop.ultimoclothing.co.nz/categories/wanganui-cycling-club

Orders close on the 15th. of March so that you'll have kit before the Nationals in April. Kit will be couriered directly from Ultimo to you sometime around the end of March.

Check the sizing charts on the order page too. This clothing is more similar to standard NZ sizes as its made here. Don't be tempted to buy a couple of sizes larger like we've had to previously

You'll note from the President's message a week or so back that there is a possability that the club may vote to add an 'H' to the spelling of Whanganui in the club name at the next AGM.  Kit without the 'H" in the spelling will NOT become obsolete if the vote passes and both versions will still be official club kit for use in out of town events.

President's Message

Check the following link for the latest President's Message https://wanganuicycling.club/presidents-message/ . This is a brief suimmery of the past year and some information about where we are headed in the coming year

Re club kit - we'll be taking orders for Club kit in the next few days and will send out another notification when its all set up and ready to go. Watch this space for more info
